Economic Development

"The Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce is the ideal resource for area business people to network, share information and ideas and collaborate on issues affecting the local business community. The Chamber was created to promote a business environment that sustains economic vitality, promotes economic development and enhances the appeal to locate, keep and grow businesses in the greater Columbus area."

~ Phil Tomlinson, CEO @ TSYS

Small Business Development

"I'm 3rd generation at People's, taking over from my mother in 2002. I've worked in the business since 1978 after graduating from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta, GA. So, I had the background and the education. But to be a true leader, I knew I would need training in business leadership and networking skills. People's has always been a Chamber member as far back as I can remember, so I became more active with their training workshops, seminars, and mentoring programs. Those resources have been indispensable in the success of my business."

~ Cedric Hill, People's Funeral Service

Talent Retention

"The mission of Columbus' Young Professionals is to attract and retain young talent in the West Georgia region while also establishing Columbus' next generation of business and community leader. CYP provides its members with opportunities to build relationships with local community, business and government leaders and gives a voice to YPs of all professions and serves as a catalyst in making Columbus a better place to live, work, and play."

Partners in Education (PIE)

"As the vice principal of Downtown Elementary Magnet Academy, I see on a weekly basis how important the Partner's In Education program is. Whether it is the TSYS teams coming in to mentor after school and help the students with science projects, or the Kiwanis Club stopping by to read to the children and donate books to our library, the interaction between the business community and our community's youths is truly a gift to behold. The kids become more prepared to face the challenges of the future and our partners take home the satisfaction of knowing they are shaping the lives of tomorrow's leaders."

~ Vicki Courier, Downtown Elementary School

Governmental Affairs

"My experience with the property assistance division at the Columbus Chamber of Commerce was instrumental in relocating Voice Link from UPtown Columbus to the Columbus East Industrial Park, enabling my company to continue expanding. When you uproot a business and move it across town, you'll encounter obstacles. Our relocation was nearly derailed when we discovered that a railway line was laid where our utilities were to be installed. But the Chamber came through big for us. The tracks were pulled up, the utilities laid, and the tracks put back in place. And on a Sunday, no less!"

~ Joann Fussell, VoiceLink
